As a photographer, I explore the intersection of fashion, identity, and subcultures. My work captures the tension between self-expression and societal perception, using clothing and posture as visual language. I aim not only to document styles but also to uncover the deeper layers of personal identity.
Through my work, I want to evoke a sense of recognition and empowerment in a generation searching for itself in a world that doesn’t always understand them. I strive to create images that resonate, offering a safe space and showing that authenticity is a strength.
My work examines the aesthetics of rebellion, individuality, and the power of self-presentation. I am fascinated by the influence of fashion on identity and how visual codes help us position ourselves in the world. My images play with contrasts, glamour versus rawness, light versus darkness, vulnerability versus strength. By using extreme perspectives, flash photography, and unconventional framing, I aim to convey energy and movement.
My inspiration stems from subcultures, alternative fashion, punk, and grunge aesthetics. Additionally, music, film, and urban environments shape my creative vision. I am intrigued by how these elements collectively form a visual identity. Artists like Helmut Newton and Nan Goldin have influenced my perspective, Newton through his powerful portrayal of women and Goldin through her raw aesthetic and ability to highlight subcultures. Furthermore, the raw energy of 1990s fashion campaigns, marked by imperfection, spontaneous snapshots, and a grungy aesthetic, has been a significant source of inspiration for me.
In the future, I aim to further develop my work within editorial and artistic fashion photography, with aspirations to be published in magazines such as Numéro Netherlands, i-D, and Dazed & Confused.
